David was born in Niagara Falls, NY and moved to Anchorage AK at the age of 4. He enjoyed fishing and hunting during his childhood there. Graduating in 1968 from Dimond High School, he immediately joined the US Navy. After serving 4 years, he settled in San Francisco and later Oakdale, CA where he resided until his death. Dave held various jobs including taxi and delivery driving.  He enjoyed fishing, football, western movies and books, but especially sharing stories of his childhood in Alaska.

Dave is preceded in death by his wife, Rojean, parents Leopold and Caroline, and brother Robert. He is survived by his sons Chuck Poirier and Ashley Jones of CA, brothers Dana of Cocoa, Fl and Dennis (Lisa) of Anchorage, sisters Shelley (Dan) Lynch of Tempe AZ and Louise (Steve) Wood of Anchorage. He is also survived by his granddaughter Samantha of Modesto, CA, niece Stace Nicholson and great nephew Justin Nicholson of Green Bay, WI. Nieces Danielle Poirier, Cami and Jade Wood of Anchorage, Carissa Poirier and great niece Caliana Poirier-Holt of Columbus GA. David was a loving father, brother and uncle and will be missed by many. Per his wishes, no service will be held.
