CATHERINE FAHEY
Fahey obit

Yes, she lived a wonderful life. Born June 13, 1927 in beautiful Montana, Catherine moved to Glendale, California with her parents Jesse and Catherine Working and brothers Jack and Pat. The family moved again to Northern California and Catherine spent most of her childhood in Oakland and Berkeley.

While attending UC Berkeley she met a very handsome young man just back from WWII. After graduation, Catherine worked for the Oakland Tribune, and in 1949 married Al Fahey. The newlyweds moved to Oakdale and the city girl became a small-town country girl. Oakdale and the beautiful family ranches were the perfect place to raise five children. Our family was blessed. Catherine was a passionate reader of mysteries, excellent seamstress, inspired cook, and avid word Jumble player. Over the years, she hosted numerous Bridge Club and Book Club gatherings and found true joy listening to classical music. And you could always find her playing a game of solitaire in her kitchen. Mom lost her true love in 2017 after 68 years of marriage.

Catherine is survived by her children Anne Orlando (Roy), Mary Town (Randy), Bill Fahey (Nina), Jim Fahey (Susy), Elizabeth Conlin (Albert), nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mass will be held Thursday, December 29 at 10 a.m., St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
