Betty Joyce ‘Susie’ Langford Nielson, 81, died Thursday, May 14 after a brief illness.
She was born in Seminole, OK to Sam and Mary Langford. She came to Oakdale with her family in 1935, attended local schools and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1946.
She married her High School sweetheart, Jesse Nielson, in 1948. They lived on their 26 Mile Road Ranch since 1963.
Mrs. Nielson began her banking career with First National Bank (in the Clock Tower Building) and remained as it became United California Bank and then First Interstate Bank, retiring in 1989.
She was active in Oakdale Business Girls Club and Beta Sigma Phi in her younger days, and Oak Valley Hospital Volunteers in retirement.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse Nielson; son, Jeff Nielson; and sisters, Cor-Rita Rogers and Frances Sherrick of Modesto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Sam Langford.
All of her friends are invited to her Memorial at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 234 College Ave. (and Stoddard) in Modesto on Sunday, May 31 at 2 p.m.
