Berneta Elaine ‘Sunnie’ Sundling, 74, died Sunday, March 27 after a short illness at Doctors Hospital.

She was born in Sutton, Nebraska to Burnett and Dorothy Hurst Sundling. The family moved to California in 1941. She attended Oakdale schools and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1954.

Shortly after high school graduation, she joined the armed forces, where she retired after 20 years of service.

Ms. Sundling returned to Oakdale in 1997. She was a volunteer at the Oakdale Chamber of Commerce office for several years.

She is survived by her brothers, Jerry (Betty) Sundling, Robert (Gwen) Sundling; four nephews; and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Burnett Sundling; brother, Bill Sundling; and sister, Carol Nelson.

Per her request, there will be no services.
