Barry Morgan Jett, 78, died Sunday, July 20, 2014.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1935 and was a longtime resident of Oakdale. He spent the last years of his life living in Sonoma’s wine country.

Mr. Jett was a member of Oakdale Sportsmen’s Club, Newman Gun Club, Oakdale Masonic Lodge, Oakdale Rotary Club, Oakdale Shriners Club, Oakdale Golf and Country Club, E. Clampus Vitus and was a veteran of Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying, gardening, the arts and traveling. He was active with Oakdale Irrigation District, Oak Valley Community Bank, was an accomplished real estate developer, and Founder and President of First American Securities, among a number of other activities.

Survivors include his daughter, Aimee Jett; son, Dallas Jett; sister, Claire “Sister” Holmes; sister-in-law, Vickie Van Dallas; son-in-law, Doug Schirle and nephew Jeff Earle.

He will be remembered as a great father, husband and loyal friend who had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life service was hosted on Saturday, July 26.

Donations may be made in his honor to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
