Audrey Laningham, 96, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 23.

She was born in Chicago, Ill. and raised in Fresno. She met her future husband, Truman Laningham at Fresno State. They married and finished college at the University of California, Berkeley. The couple moved to Modesto in 1947 with their daughter Mary Sue.

Mrs. Laningham worked in the Art Department at Modesto Junior College and was active in the Central California Art League where she served as president and organized the art shows at Gallo. She was a multi-media artist. She also was a member of the Mother Lode Gem and Mineral Society and the Central Valley Iris Society.

Her family thanks her caregivers, Anselma DeAnda and Maria Obando-Gonzalez for their loving care.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Sue (Lee) Shearer of Knights Ferry; granddaughters, Cindy (Neil) Davis, and Victoria (Scott) Krippner, all of Modesto; step-grandchildren, Patti (Andy) Sandoval of Oakdale, Jeff (Lisa) Shearer of Loma Rica; and great-grandchildren Gwyn Davis, Alex Krippner, Claire Krippner, Joselyn (Tony) Serrano, and Wyatt Shearer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman.

Private burial is at Knights Ferry’s Oak Grove Cemetery.

Remembrances may be made to a favorite charity.
