Arnold G. ‘Arnie’ Cornell, 64, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 11 at Oak Valley Hospital.

He was a resident of Oakdale for 19 years.

Mr. Cornell was a distinguished Vietnam combat veteran.

For many years, he was a cement truck driver and recently retired to enjoy the life of leisure. He enjoyed many recreational activities that included fishing and traveling as well as spending quality time with his family. He was also an avid 49ers and Giants fan.

He was known for his sense of humor, infectious laughter and his nonstop pranks. He will be missed by many friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Beth; children, Genai (Stuart) McWilliams of Klammath Falls, Ore., Tami Cole of Fort Bragg, Emily (Karl) Mechtenberg of Seward, Alaska, Eric Blair of Bend, Ore.; mother, Gladys Cornell; brother, Joseph (Marie) Kulka; his godson, Cody; eight grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and best friend, Steve Showalter.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Sr., and his brother, Don.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 19 at Oakdale Memorial Chapel, 830 West F St.
