Ann Elizabeth Johnson, 89, died peacefully on Monday, April 7 at the Oakdale home of her son, surrounded by family and friends that came from Arizona, Nevada and California.

She was the youngest of five children born to William and Marion Broadhead in Jamestown, NY. She graduated from Lasell College, Boston, Mass. in 1945. She married Frank O. Johnson in 1946; they were married for 64 years.

She and her husband relocated to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1957. Phoenix is where she called home for 54 years, raising her son Craig and daughters Kristin and Deborah.

Mrs. Johnson was heavily involved in the Swedish organization of VASA for over 30 years, active in the Altar Guild of her church for 35 years and involved in a woman’s study group. She was also involved in her retirement community where she lived for 14 years.

In 2011 she came to live with her son and his family in Oakdale. She treasured the time she spent with his family, became a member of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, and traveled around California, Arizona and the East Coast.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Johnson (Greg) Winans of Avondale, Ariz.; son, Craig (Bonnie) Johnson of Oakdale; grandchildren, Andy Johnson, Eric Johnson, Kara Von Burg, Keith Kessler; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; and daughter, Kristin.

A celebration of life memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 at Sierra Baptist Church, 74 N. Lee, Oakdale. There will be a second service in Phoenix on May 24.
