He was born on July 22, 1929.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Helen Schimmel of Oakdale; daughters Sherryl Smith of Oakdale and Janice Cook of Dublin; grandchildren, Jill Pearson of Concord, Jon Fisher of Discovery Bay, and Jennifer Shiehan of Concord; six great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He adored all his grandchildren, including Randy Price who passed away in May.

Mr. Schimmel will be remembered for his hard work, his love for God and his family devotion, as well as endless acts of kindness, compassion and strength to all those who came his way searching for help or support.

Service will be on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. at Deegan Funeral Chapel, 1441 San Joaquin St., Escalon.

Burial will be private at Burwood Cemetery.
