We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of friend and neighbor, Ed Tribby. Ed will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and working with him. Ed was the chairman of the group of residents who worked so hard to try and save the old Valley Home Community Center and when that proved impossible, he worked hard to overcome County obstacles, and turn the now empty area into a park to benefit our Valley Home community. We shall miss his enthusiasm and hard work On behalf of our Valley Home community. We offer our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to his wife, Lisa and family members in their loss.

Parent Teacher Club President (PTC) Lisa Jones would like us to circle Saturday, October 24th on our calendars and plan to attend the Valley Home Annual Harvest Festival. She tells us to bring your decorated pumpkins and receive a free can of Silly String! It is not too early to get working on entries for the annual Scarecrow contest – more info next week. All entries must be finished by October 21st and the winners will be announced at the Festival.

Lisa tells us that Valley Home P.T.C. will be starting to collect School-wide donations for the Harvest Festival. Items are needed for the Cake Walk (store bought cookies, cakes etc.), Bingo Prizes (Dollar Store items, knick knacks, lotions and soaps, etc.) and bags of candy (that will have individually wrapped pieces) are also needed for the PRIZES at our booths. Collection starts this week, each teacher will have a box by/in their classroom to keep this an easy process. Thank you in advance for all your donations.

Of special importance the group is in need of parents to man the booths, if you are available, please let us know, we could sure use the help!

We are saddened to report that we have a Grinch in our community! It was discovered on Monday of last week that the P.T.C. banner announcing the Festival fun is missing. The banner was hanging on the Texas Avenue campus on the corner of Pioneer and Lone Tree roads. Have you seen it or can you ask around? This banner is for our children and our school and is not cheap to replace. Any help provided in locating it would be appreciated, and if needed, donation of replacement funds would be appreciated!

Several Valley Home folks made the journey to Knights Ferry to attend the “Zero Party.” The party is a wonderful fun way to celebrate those having a birthday or anniversary ending in 0. One very special guest was Valley Home teacher, Tom Cassineto who was there to celebrate his grandmother, who turns 90 this year!

Cody Bartholomew was very excited to get a phone call from the post office at 5:30 a.m. recently letting him know that his baby chicks had arrived from the hatchery.

Maci & Cody Soares and Denise & Natalie Thompson have been seen at the OHS football games cheering on our former Valley Home players and the two delightful mascots, Mortimer and Mortimiss!
