It is not too early to begin thinking about entering or being a spectator at this year’s Valley Home Christmas Parade. It will be held on Saturday, December 12 at 5:30 p.m. Remember it is a lighted parade and gets a bit nippy, so be sure to bundle up! Best viewing area is in front of the old school. Everyone should bring their own chairs. After the parade we will once again have a community potluck dinner at the Valley Home School Gym. Plan to bring your favorite dish to share.

A capacity crowd filled St. John’s/St. Luke’s Lutheran Church here in Valley Home on Sunday afternoon for the viewing of the Silent Movie “The Gold Rush” starring Charlie Chaplin. Dave Moreno’s nimble fingers provided the musical background for the movie on the church’s Robert Morton Theater Pipe Organ and Matias Bombal offered vocal entertainment and shared interesting information about the movie. The show opened with a silent cartoon with Moreno providing a musical accompaniment on the organ.

The afternoon of Silent Movie Film Fun ended with a big round of applause from members of the audience and a wonderful musical piece on the organ by Dave Moreno whose talented fingers enticed a steam, whistle blowing locomotive to rumble out from the organ and close the afternoon of entertainment with the Cannonball Express. Moviegoers then retired to the church basement to enjoy homemade pie and ice cream served by members of L.W.M.L. and coffee served by members of Valley Home 4-H. What a nice way to end a wonderful afternoon of film fun with friends and neighbors! We want to send a large thank you to Estelle Barnhill for scheduling such wonderful entertainment for our community.
