Estelle Barnhill celebrated her birthday at the Sunday afternoon Silent Film presentation with the attending audience all joining in singing to the Birthday Girl!

Silent Film fans filled the pews at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Sunday afternoon and settled back to enjoy an afternoon of old time film fun with Laurel and Hardy appearing in films before the two became regular comedy partners. It was obvious in these comedies that the two men worked well together before becoming a famous pair.

In addition to the two comics, the audience was to enjoy again the special showmanship and talent of Dave Moreno of Sacramento, as he brought the films to life with his expertise at the church organ accompaniment for the film. Moreno also offered an organ solo entitled “Stanley” and a little film history between films. Matias Bombal favored the audience with a couple of vocals, “I found a Million Dollar Baby at the 5 and 10 Cent Store” and “May I” in additional humorous patter between changing film reels.

Following the movies, the crowd descended to the Social Hall for a wonderful opportunity to visit with friends and neighbors and enjoy delicious homemade pie and ice cream at the new round tables and chairs purchased with funds from the last movie showing. The walls were decorated with “film” and equipment from the day of Silent films.
