Highlighting this week’s activities for our Valley Home 4-H members was the group’s annual Valentine Box Social. The Social is always a fun filled evening as members have a great time bidding on beautifully decorated boxes and baskets brimming with tasty goodies guaranteed to tempt the palates of the bidders. There is always lots of excitement as each successful bidder opens his or her prize and discovers the delectable goodie inside. The event was held in the Valley Home School gym and the rafters resounded with the excited voices of the 4-H bidders as they competed for each item.

Valley Home School PTC members are gearing up to host the group’s 2nd Annual Bunko Night “Let It Roll,” which will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010. The group reminds us that they need donations for the fun event, which can be homemade or otherwise. They remind us that they had so many donations last year, it was fantastic, and the group would like to be able to do the same for this year’s event! We are told that one of the donations received thus far is a basket from Gun Accessory Supply, a beautiful 1’1/4 grape shaped pendant with leaves made from green Jade and the grapes are made of pearls. The item is valued at $100.
PTC member Valerie Swanson offers this suggestion to aid with the event. “Do you or someone you know own a business and/or could use a little help getting the word out? Just a reminder, the PTC Annual Jog-A-thon shirt design contest is currently under way. The rules for entering are simple: each drawing must be on a 8 1/2x11 inch piece of white paper and have no more than 5 colors, the theme and drawing are of your choice. The name and class must be on the reverse side to keep the judging fair. Drawing deadline will be February 19th and the drawing can be turned into your child’s class or the office PTC drop box. Judging will be held at the 2nd Annual Bunko Night scheduled for March 12.

Valley Home 4-Hers recently enjoyed 4-H Family Fun Bowling Night with the very energetic group spending an evening at McHenry Bowl, bowling and having a great time. We heard that the younger bowlers did a great job, we don’t know who had the most fun though, the youngsters or the young at heart.
We have received word that our 4-Hers will be donating their hands and shovels to the Community Park project. They voted at their last community service project meeting to put their youthful energy toward this wonderful project.
