We have received important information from Nancy Osmundson, Chairperson for our Valley Home Mac meetings to be sure to circle Wednesday, April 20 on your calendars and plan to attend a very important meeting for our Neighborhood Watch program. Nancy has spoken with the STARS volunteers and invited them to our Valley Home Mac meeting. We will have a member from that group scheduled to speak about the Owner Applied Numbers for the Farm Watch program.

Just a reminder that the Valley Home PTC meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, April 7 and election of officers for the coming year will be held at that time. Any upcoming Kindergarten parents are welcome to attend and run for officer positions as well. There is always something exciting going on at these meetings, with plans being made to come up with activities which will benefit our Valley Home students. The Jog-A-Thon is set to take place on Thursday, April 21 at the Pioneer Ave. campus. If you are available to help out with the event PTC is taking volunteers names and areas that they would like to help in. The areas of help are: Set-up-BBQ area, Teacher’s desks, kitchen service, etc. Lap cards-Assist teachers/students counting laps. Food Service-Serving students, staff and families. Clean-up-All area will need helpers, outside and in. Please let our president, Lisa Jones know when and where you would be available and she will add your name to her list. Each teacher could use at least 2 parent helpers to count laps.
Special thanks goes to Heather Duvall for making the lap cards for all the students and teachers, Michelle McKenzie for taking on the shirt ordering this year and Ashley Cogburn for helping set-up in the morning and lap card assisting! Set-up will start shortly after drop-off time and we will meet in the Gym. If you are interested in lap card assisting, please be at the school at 10 a.m. and go to your assigned Teacher’s check point area.
Students will be wearing their new T-shirts featuring the design created by first grade student Wyatt Wucherer for the fun event.
What nicer way to end a fun filled day than an opportunity to enjoy a delicious BBQ? PTC members will be serving lunch at 11:30, right after the end of the Jog-A-Thon everyone is invited to come over and join our joggers for a fun afternoon together before we adjourn for Spring Break at 1 p.m. that afternoon.

We just receive some more exciting news on Alanna Jones’ sport activities at West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Alanna and teammate, Stefanie Rossman earned Co-WVIAC Pitcher of the Week awards. Alanna went 3-0 on the week for Davis & Elkins. She worked 17 innings without giving up an earned run, allowing just two hits. Alanna struck out seven batters against West Liberty in game one. In the second game she came on in relief, tossing the eighth, ninth and 10th innings while adding two strikeouts. She also posted a no-hitter, her second of the year, against Southern Virginia while striking out 15. Wow, Alanna, we are all proud of you!

Another vehicle burglary (breaking into two cars) has been reported in the vicinity of Lone Tree and Henry. The vehicles were left unlocked in front of the residence. Valley Home residents need to keep a watchful eye out for any suspicious activities in our area, and we will keep everyone posted.
