Looking forward to New Year’s Eve 2015 ... It is time to say goodbye to 2015, all the good and all the not so good! Here in Valley Home we have had so many good things happen. 2015 brought Mr. Tom Price to Valley Home School as school superintendent. Mr. Price brought a spirit of working together, of respect for each and every person, be it a student, parent, or community member; your thoughts, opinions, and actions count with Superintendent Price. Thank you, Mr. Price!

2015 was a very successful Community Park yard sale; thanks to a true community effort our park will be well maintained. Ryan Cope joined the park board; we offer a big thank you to Ryan and the entire park board! 2015 welcomed Sean Haynes as our new 4-H Community Leader, lots of exciting 4-H projects and a great 4-H leadership team led by president Sierra Haynes. A huge thank you to the Haynes family.

During 2015 we said goodbye to Valley Home School board members Heather Duvall, Shara Ruddy, and Larry Betschart. The board welcomed new members Shanna Springer, Onan Rice, and Johnny Sphar, they will join Julie Haynes and Chris Hempleman. A special thank you to all the Valley Home School board members for your hard work. 2015 saw our fire fighters working hard to make sure our community is well taken care of.

Our deepest appreciation to our hard working dedicated fire fighters! Our Stanislaus County Supervisor Bill O’Brien spent many evenings in Valley Home this past year including bringing his lovely wife to our Harvest Festival in October! Special thanks to Supervisor O’Brien and his colleagues for their very informative community water meeting. You are much appreciated! In 2015 we celebrated special friendships to the Valley Home Community such as Brian Brodowski and his beautiful, talented daughters, Kevin Koppinger and his generous hard working family, Larry and Toni Newcomb and Ray and Jeanette Weaver for all you do for Valley Home! We offer our most heartfelt gratitude to Veteran and Purple Heart recipient Mr. Benedix; your service will forever be most appreciated!

As I end this week’s column I would like to wish my grandson Cooper Bartholomew a very Happy Birthday on New Year’s Day! Cooper, as with every year on New Year’s Day your family will celebrate the great joy and happiness you bring to our family! With Auld Lang Syne in the background, birthday wrapping abandoned on the floor, we will raise our sparkling cider glasses in a toast to you, throw confetti, be so grateful for 2016 and a nine-year-old named Cooper. Happy Birthday Cooper! Happy New Year to all!
