Hi everyone. I hope you are all doing well and enjoying this first week of August.
*****
This week we honor former Valley Home student and an amazing young woman, Sophia Martin.
Sophia was especially close to Valley Home school bus driver Bonnie Gellerman. As a Valley Home student Sophia shared many adventures with Bonnie … both on and off the bus. Growing up in Valley Home and having a mentor in Bonnie, led Sophia to have an amazing belief in herself and in her abilities as she grew up. Bonnie was a confidence builder.
Sophia graduated from Oakdale High School and later would graduate with honors from CSU Stanislaus with a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture. After graduation, she moved to San Diego with friends from Oakdale. Sophia loved the beach, and enjoyed spending time on the beach with her friends. She learned very much from her job, Alpha Omega Finance.
She was excited when the opportunity to return home and manage Martin Land and Cattle came up. Her mom Cristie was beyond happy when daughter Sophia came home to manage the family farming business with dad Joe … back in the saddle again. Both Cristie and Joe love to see the generations of family farming continue. On any given day, you may see Sophia doing everything from running the harvest crew, heading off to a business meeting, or on the family farm driving a tractor. She is an amazing young woman with a deep love of family and a deep love for agriculture.
Sophia loves to travel. She enjoys spending time between working and traveling, visiting many exciting places. She recently spent time in Puerto Rico. She plans to continue balancing traveling and running the family farm. She is very close with her brother Dante, and shares a strong bond with him. It’s exciting to share Sophia’s amazing journey.
