Members of Oakdale’s Red Hat Fun Lovin’ Ladies have put together a flavorsome itinerary for their luncheon meeting for 2011. The ladies started off the year with luncheon at Café Bravo in Oakdale and Queen Bonny tells us that our ladies have lots of “fun filled” plans topping their meetings for the rest of the New Year. The next meeting for the group will find the group enjoying a culinary repast at Minnie’s Restaurant in Modesto today, Wednesday, February 2nd. If that bit of information doesn’t tickle your taste buds, we are told that in March the group will be enjoying lunch with an Italian flavor at the Olive Garden Restaurant in Modesto. We are told that three more fun filled luncheon meetings have all ready been scheduled for the remainder of the year. Members are requested to give Cookie a call at 847-0761 if you need to cancel a meeting or have not made a reservation, as the group needs to confirm with the restaurant of the week, how many to expect.

Word has been received that the pavilion outdoor lights have been installed at the Valley Home Community Center Park and those lucky enough to see them illuminating the picnic table area say they are wonderful. The rest of us will have to wait until the committee has a special lighting to show the exciting results. The important work was done by the park’s friends at Knickenbacher Electric Co. in Oakdale who have greatly helped this project several times in the past but it sounds like they have given us something different or special in these lights. A daytime trip to the park allowed us to view the two large circular lighting fixtures, at least eighteen inches in diameter, waiting in the ceiling to share their brilliance with all those beneath them. With this support from Knickenbacher in the installation of the lighting the project gets another step closer to completion.

The memorial plaza with a lighted flagpole and a park sign are next. We urge all residents who have the opportunity, to please express the gratitude of the Valley Home residents to Knickenbacher Electric Co. for their additional strong support of this important local project.
