Valley Home residents enjoyed a quiet Fourth of July this year with picnic luncheons and visiting friends gathering together to watch the annual Fireworks display over Woodward Reservoir. Valley Home residents are in a fortunate position to enjoy the colorful displays lighting the sky over Woodward without having to leave their own back yards. Just another of the many reasons that makes our Valley Home area such a special place to live.
Joe and Linda Perez decided to forgo their annual Fourth fireworks display in front of their Pleasant Valley home and instead, enjoy viewing the spectacular display from their poolside patio behind their house. The couple invited their friends, Kathy Whitaker of Sacramento, Chris and Marge Silva and Bob Provost to enjoy the dazzling display of aerial fireworks with them.
We can’t think of a nicer way to relax and celebrate our Nation’s birthday, than with friends and family and a sky full of sparkling fireworks.

Glenn and Laura Burghardt enjoyed a visit on Sunday from daughter, Kathy Burghardt-Cobb and her husband, Glen. Kathy and Glen have just added a new animal to their list of family pets. This pet answers to the name of Walter and is currently calling a pasture in the Merced area his home. Walter is a beautiful 14-year-old horse and is currently the apple of daughter, Kate’s eyes. While here Kathy and Glen loaded a trailer with hay to take home as a Fourth of July present for Walter.

Railroad fans, Michael and Jeff Burghardt and family members spent Sunday at Railtown 97 State Park in Jamestown with the crowds welcoming the famous Sierra Railway steam locomotive #3 back into service after major restoration. The restoration took three years and the “Movie Star Queen” was welcomed back by a large crowd of rail fans. All the Railtown trains were running also, it was like a step back into the past. Mike and Jeff took lots of photographs (digital images) and plan to show them at their next Stanislaus Railroad club meeting here in town.

Birthday celebrations were enjoyed by Tami Tharpe and Chuck Fleischer, both of whom shared July 6th as their birthday. Happy Birthday wishes to both from all their Valley Home friends and neighbors.
