Such a special day ... On Saturday, May 25, the beautiful Jazmin Garcia married Mr. Jose Rivas. The bride and groom exchanged vows in a lovely ceremony in Patterson, CA. Jazmin is a former graduate of Valley Home School. A lively reception was held at the bride’s family home after the ceremony. A very special guest in attendance was Miss Celina Rubio who flew in from Texas for the day. Celina is also a former Valley Home School graduate!

Our Valley Home General Store is undergoing some work. Last week Jeff Combs reported that JAB Creations and Salvage from Escalon were going to demolish the back part of the store, the front part will remain! Folks were quick to share memories of the General Store on Facebook. Some had recent years’ memories, but many shared memories that went back many generations! It was wonderful to read comments such as one from Shelly Carpenter that the building had been a part of her life for over 63 years! Janet Benedix Willett remembered being so young when they opened the new part, her parents had to help her step up to the sidewalk. Mary Koch Weeda shared her memory of waving at the train as it passed by. Both Caleb Cooper and Jeff Combs felt sadness to see the old part go. Many, many more memories were shared and it was a wonderful walk down memory lane. Susan Lee, Owner of the General Store had no choice but to take down the old part, it just could not be saved!

It is our hope that we can all work together and share as much of the history as we can of our Valley Home community so that future generations will always know the wonderful history of this lovely little community.

And speaking of community, if anyone has records on the history of Valley Home that you would be willing to share, please could you make a copy and let me know! On the first Tuesday of August, we will be celebrating “National Night Out” (a night for neighbors to come outside and visit with each other, it is celebrated the same night each year across the entire country!) We will gather at our Valley Home Park to visit with neighbors, share happy memories and make new ones!

Congratulations to our newest graduates of Valley Home School. Good luck to our eighth grade class on your adventures in high school. And also best wishes to our Kindergarten class moving on to the first grade. We are so proud of each and every one of you and are grateful you are a part of the Valley Home community!

Had a wonderful visit with Lainey Smith this last week. Lainey is living in Arizona presently, but is getting ready to move to Texas in the near future. Lainey, her boyfriend Riley, and the rest of the Smith family, Ronnie, Tammie and sister Hallie all enjoyed a wonderful vacation to Hawaii together, where they went hiking, had picnics, dinners on the beach and had great family time together. It meant so much to me to have Lainey come by to visit on her trip home. No matter where you live Lainey, you are always a Valley Home girl!
