Happy Fall to all! Such lovely weather, warm autumn days, gentle breezes bring fall leaves fluttering to the ground, the heat of the afternoon sun becomes an evening chill as the beautiful harvest moon shines down on our community! It’s time for another Fall Harvest Festival in Valley Home! Folks come from miles around to enjoy the fun, food and friendships the Harvest Festival brings each year! Remember to mark your calendars for Saturday, October 21st. More details in next week’s column.

This evening, Wednesday, Oct. 11, our Valley Home MAC will meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Valley Home School Library. The MAC is a municipal advisory council that works closely with Stanislaus County. Please bring your questions, concerns and thoughts to this evening’s meeting. Of particular concern is our fire situation. Please come join the discussion, we need your input! Your voice is important. Also on tonight’s agenda will be Sheriff and CHP along with reports and representation from Stanislaus County.

Tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 12 our Valley Home kindergarten through third graders will visit the Valley Home fire house for a fire prevention presentation. What a great learning opportunity!

Excitement is building as our teams get ready for their football and volleyball games. This Friday, Oct. 13 our Valley Home School teams will play Shiloh at Valley Home. Our community is invited to come support your Valley Home Hawks! The games start at approximately 11:30 a.m. Go-o-o Hawks!

Also, Monday our Valley Home student body will be part of an assembly entitled “The Power of One!” Tremendous learning concerning bullying. We appreciate the Parent/Teacher Club for arranging this powerful event.

Remember to get your pie orders turned in before Monday, Oct. 23. There are 18 different delicious flavors available! Pies such as cherry, blackberry, peach and other tasty flavors are ready to be popped in the oven and enjoyed at dinner time. Pies can be kept in your freezer up to one year! This delicious fundraiser benefits our Valley Home students. The pies are $13 each or two for $25 and can be ordered by calling the school office at 847-0117. No late orders! Pies will need to be picked up at school on Thursday, Nov. 2 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Pioneer Campus.

On Tuesday, Oct. 17 there will be an Oakdale Rural Fire Board meeting in Knights Ferry at the community hall at 6:00 p.m. All are invited and encouraged to attend.
