How beautiful spring is in Valley Home! The sight of livestock grazing peacefully in lush green pastures, lovely white/pink almond blossoms as far as you can see, watching ever changing clouds as they float gently across a brilliant blue sky, hearing a mourning dove coo sweetly in a barn loft, we could go on and on. Such a special place, we are truly blessed to wake up in Valley Home each morning!

It was a treat to see Laura and Glenn Burghardt out enjoying this spring weather. Laura wrote the Valley Home News for 38 years before retiring, Glenn is our local historian and is retired Navy! Both are very involved in our Valley Home community, always willing to help with any and all projects or events. Thank you Laura and Glenn!

Speaking of Scott, his high school coach, Darrel Hardcastle has written and published a most amazing book. I just finished reading it and now can’t wait for the sequel. The book is fictional and based on the life of a very talented young man who is faced with much adversity throughout his first years of life. His strong faith and positive attitude eventually has him graduating from high school. Several of Coach Hardcastle’s names from his coaching days at East Union High School are used fictionally throughout the book. Reading the book I recognized many names including my son-in-law, Scott Heaton. Scott graduated from East Union in 1987. Darrel Hardcastle now lives with his family and is head coach at Van Allstyne high school in Van Allystyne, Texas! Very well written, it was great fun to read and is available on Amazon.
