Valley Home residents were saddened to receive word that former long time resident, Arne Knudsen passed away on February 21. Arne and his brother, Soren started a family nursery business, Knudsen Nursery Inc., here in Valley Home in 1960. The brothers were often very active in providing plants to decorate many of Valley Home’s community activities. Your reporter remembers his work with Valley Home 4-H members, helping many of them to develop their knowledge of growing and working with plants.

We offer our deepest sympathy to Arne’s family members in their loss.

It may be a little early, but Valley Home residents and Silent Film Buffs will want to grab a pen and circle April 24th on their calendars for an afternoon of Silent Movie fun. We have just received word that St. John’s/St. Luke’s Church is going to host another of the Silent Movie treats followed by refreshments of homemade pie and ice cream. Dave Marino will once again be playing the pipe organ and Matias Bombal will be returning as the Master of Ceremonies.

The movie, made in 1925 is entitled “Seven Chances” and finds the star of the show, Buster Keaton, an heir to a fortune, if, he marries by his 27th birthday, which happens to be today. Well, the chase is on from there, to find a bride, any bride.

Come join the fun on April 24th! Show time is 3 p.m. Generally, it is standing room only, so come early. This is a free will offering, but donations are greatly appreciated. This fundraiser will help the church to replace its tables and chairs in the downstairs dining hall.
