Valley Home News 1-1-20
Winnie Mullins

We count our blessings as we say goodbye to 2019 and welcome in the New Year! For many of us the last year brought great happiness and many joyful events. For others the last year brought tears of sadness, health issues and tested our strength! Whatever station you find yourself in, at this point in your life, it is my humble prayer that the year 2020 is a year filled with great joy, good health and tremendous faith in God! For myself and my family it has been a year of many blessings, also a year of many tremendous health issues that have tested our strength, but magnified our belief in God’s mercy. To be able to live in Valley Home and be surrounded by kind, caring people is such a great blessing. I never want to take for granted the peacefulness of this special little community. Since moving here many years ago, I have always had a great appreciation of those folks who were born and raised in this beautiful community. It has always intrigued me to hear the stories from their youth, the stories of growing up playing on the ditch banks, fishing, rafting in the river ... I’ve heard stories of the many times spent at 4-H meetings in the little house I now call home. Growing up in Valley Home must have been a wonderful life. I love to hear folks talk of their beloved clubhouse, the heart of Valley Home. The stories they share of events, birthdays, weddings, graduations, parties, family get-togethers, hunters’ breakfast and so much more, give me a glimpse of how life was for those blessed to grow up in Valley Home! This small rural community has protected its way of life, with it still being the safe, caring community it has always been.

I am deeply thankful for my family and friends who encourage me every day (including those of you who take the time to read this column); I am thankful for you! I am thankful for our first responders, for our military, those who have served and are serving at home or on foreign soil, you are appreciated each and every day! May God bless us all in this New Year, 2020!
