Two females have been found deceased along a trail off Hollenbeck Court in Oakdale, the grisly discovery made on Saturday morning.

According to Oakdale Police Chief Scott Heller, the police department received a call shortly after 10 a.m. on April 11 from a man, believed to be fishing in the area, who reported a person being shot off Hollenbeck Court.

The Stanislaus River runs through that area, off River Avenue and Heller said OPD officers arrived on scene and “found two deceased persons along the trail by the river.”

At this point, he said, officers are still processing the scene and he said while they don’t believe there is a suspect still outstanding, the investigation is continuing. The chief did not give an age range for the victims.

Authorities believe the shooting occurred on Friday evening, based on information gathered at the scene.

Both Oakdale Police and Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Deputies assembled above the scene, at the three-way stop at Kimball, Oak and River while additional units were staged on Hollenbeck Court.

More information will be made available today; The Leader will provide an update at that time.
