On Saturday, Nov. 13 members of Oakdale Cub Scout Pack 365 will be canvassing a few neighborhoods in Oakdale and dropping off paper grocery bags. This is part of the Pack’s annual ‘Scouting for Food’ drive and they will return the following Saturday to pick up donations.

“Our hope is to beat our goal last year of 4,500 pounds of non-perishable food items that we collected,” said Committee Chair Anna Wooten. “We cannot accept cash donations, non-perishable food items only.”

Scouts will return to the Sunset Oaks, Burchell Hill and Bridle Ridge neighborhoods, where they are dropping off the bags on Nov. 13, on Saturday, Nov. 20.

“For residents that do not live in those neighborhoods, they are able to drop off items at our drive-thru drop off,” Wooten added of hosting the drop off site on Nov. 20. “We will be set up in front of Gilbert Park from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. on that Saturday.”

After collecting the bags and hosting the drop off, the scouts will donate the food to a local food bank to help families in need.

“We would love to get some businesses set up with donation bags,” Wooten said of looking to expand the effort.
