California Highway Patrol officers are continuing the investigation into a Monday night fatal accident along River Road, east of Sawyer Avenue in Oakdale.

According to the CHP report, they received a call about 8:10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20 of a traffic collision on River Road, just east of Sawyer. Emergency personnel arrived on scene and located a Dodge van on its passenger side, blocking the eastbound lane. A 31-year-old woman from Oakdale – identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office as Paige Henderson – was located under the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicated the Dodge van was traveling eastbound on River Road, east of Sawyer Avenue, approaching a left bend in the roadway. For unknown reasons, the driver allowed the Dodge to leave the south road edge. The Dodge overturned, causing Henderson to be ejected from the van. Authorities said she was not using her safety equipment. The Dodge came to rest on the passenger side, facing in a southerly direction, straddling the eastbound lane and south shoulder.

A pedestrian was located near the collision scene and he was identified as Brad Scoville, 26, of Oakdale. Authorities said Scoville had an outstanding warrant for his arrest and was subsequently placed under arrest by the CHP. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.

Officers are still trying to determine if Scoville was connected in any way to the collision. It is also still under investigation whether Henderson was the driver or passenger of the van at the time of the incident.

Information on the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department ‘In Custody’ report lists Bradley Allen Scoville as a 26-year-old male who was booked on multiple charges including grand theft, receiving stolen property, organized retail theft, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
