RESCUE OPERATION
rescue

Fire crews were called in to service early Sunday afternoon, July 26 to rescue an injured hiker along the Stanislaus River, located east of the covered bridge in Knights Ferry. Firefighters hiked in the steep terrain to find him and the man eventually had to be helicoptered out of the location. It was the latest in a series of rescue calls along the river; several in recent weeks have involved stranded boaters, who often find themselves entangled in tree limbs or debris along the river's edge and require assistance.
