One man was shot following an altercation early morning Friday in Oakdale, but is expected to recover.
Oakdale Police are continuing to investigate the shooting that occurred in the area of the Motel 6 in the 800 block of East F Street.
According to authorities, on Friday morning, Oct. 23 at 2:49 a.m., Oakdale Police responded to the area of the Motel 6 to reports of gunshots and yelling. When officers arrived, they found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The 55-year-old man told police a woman attempted to steal his money. He chased her to try and get his money back and during the altercation he was shot. The woman then reportedly left the area in a four-door blue sedan. Police put out a ‘be on the lookout’ for the vehicle, indicating the woman was the driver and had a male passenger in the car, described as a dark blue car, possibly a Monte Carlo or a Cadillac, with a gold or yellow top.
The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. Investigators processed the crime scene and canvassed the area for possible witnesses in hopes of identifying the shooter. The investigation remains ongoing.
