OHS Cheer Boosters Seeking Local Support For Program
O cheer
These spirited young ladies are an integral part of the football and basketball athletic programs at Oakdale High School. They keep the crowd pumped with school spirit, act as school ambassadors in the community and at away games. The Cheer Boosters are asking for a little community support to help them do what they’ve always done: support the OHS cheer program. KIM VAN METER/THE LEADER

The spirited sideline leaders responsible for supporting the Oakdale High School championship football program, pumping up The Corral crowd, and being positive ambassadors within the community need a little support. The cheer program is seeking community help after the devastation of a year-long lockdown.

The inability to host the popular “Mini Mustang” fundraising event has left the Cheer Boosters scraping the bottom of the barrel for necessities that help support the OHS cheer program.

Some of the things the Cheer Boosters fundraise for are:

·         Choreographer/trainer

·         Stickers on boxes

·         Boxes/box repair (paint/wheels/handles)

·         Two bows per athlete (team bow/breast cancer awareness bow)

·         Two team shirts

·         Homecoming week girls/all three football teams

·         Tiaras/flowers for Senior Night

·         Team bonding

·         End of the year party

The OHS Cheer program participants spend their time and energy supporting the community and its athletes in ways that aren’t often talked about but are quietly performed behind-the-scenes. Those range from community outreach in the form of youth ambassadors to spending their own time and resources to support the football and basketball programs.

In addition, in 2020 the OHS Cheer program brought home national and state cheerleading championships through the hard work and dedication of its athletes.

It’s the mission of the Cheer Boosters to support these athletes and help provide the resources they need to be the best athletes they can be but the lockdown hit hard.

Currently, mailers are going out to the community, asking for support. No amount is too small. As a registered 5013c, there are also larger sponsorship opportunities available for businesses.
