Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 8-20-25

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Aug. 12 through Monday, Aug. 18. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, AUG. 18

Battalion 2: Crews completed weekly Monday engine checks on all first out apparatus.

1:37 p.m. – Grass and Water Tender 23 responded to the area of Milnes and Albers for the report of a vegetation fire. They arrived to find a controlled burn in a burn box with no threats.

Battalion 5: Crews completed Target Solutions assignments, performed company level training in their respective FMA’s and performed Monday apparatus checks and station maintenance.

11:45 a.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Quint 22, and Battalion 5 responded to the report of a potential structure fire on Grange Street in Oakdale. E27 arrived on scene to a two-story residence with nothing showing from the exterior. Upon further investigation crews found a fire in the oven that was out and filled the home with smoke. Crews remained on scene to remove the damaged stove and the smoke from the residence.

 

SUNDAY, AUG. 17

XST 4201-C returned home from the Gifford Fire. The fire was at over 130,000 acres and 89 percent contained.

Battalion 2: Crews trained on completing engine checks, entering fluids, and entries on First Due.

Training was conducted at the station level and online in Vector Solutions.

Battalion 5: 1:55 p.m. – Engine 27 and BC5 were dispatched to a vehicle into a building. Upon arrival a car had inadvertently driven through the ASTRO Pet Adoption Offices on South Stearns Road. The driver and people inside were uninjured.

 

SATURDAY, AUG. 16

Battalion 2: Saturday training took place across Battalion 2.

Engine 21, Engine 26, Engine 23 all met at Station 22 and ran through forcible entry and ladder drills.

Battalion 5: The engine companies throughout Battalion 5 conducted various Company Level Training drills in their respective FMA’s Saturday. Crews trained on hose evolutions, rope rescue techniques, water rescue tactics and helicopter landing safety.

3:01 p.m. – Engine 7, OES4618 and BC5 were dispatched to a vegetation fire on Oakdale Road in Riverbank. Crews arrived and quickly extinguished a small fire near the road.

 

FRIDAY, AUG. 15

MST radios were programmed to update the newest radio frequencies.

XST 4201-C strike team continues to be assigned to the Gifford Fire in Southern California. They are assigned to Division Kilo and are doing mop-up and patrol duties.

Battalion 2: Battalion 2 firefighters practiced commercial fire attack operations.

Battalion 2 companies rotated through radio programming at Fire Station 15.

Battalion 5: 1:43 a.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Quint 22 and BC5 were dispatched to Taco Bell on F street in Oakdale for a potential structure fire. Upon arrival crews found a wall outlet that was sparking and smoking. E28 secured the power and opened the wall plug and removed it. There was no fire extension in the wall and all units cleared.

 

THURSDAY, AUG. 14

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

7:50 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to the 6300 block of Roselle Avenue in Riverbank for a motorcycle versus a motor vehicle. One patient with moderate injuries was transported to Memorial Medical Center by ground ambulance.

Battalion 5: Crews completed Target Solutions assignments, performed apparatus checks and station maintenance, as well as company level training in their respective FMA’s.

10 a.m. – Engine 28, OES4617, OES4615, OES4618, Grass 24, Grass 21, Water Tenders 21 and 27 along with BC5 responded to the report of a vegetation fire behind the Oakdale Sportsman Club in Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene to a quarter acre grass fire in heavy vegetation and timber with a moderate rate of spread. Crews were able to wrap the fire and quickly stop forward progress holding it to just over a quarter of an acre. Crews remained on scene for roughly two hours mopping up the fire and ensuring all hot spots were extinguished. Crews continued to check the fire throughout the shift.

3:41 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 29, Engine 27 and BC5 responded to the report of a water rescue on Orange Blossom Road at the Honolulu Bar Rec Area. Flows were too low to launch the boats making it challenging for crews to locate the victims. With the assistance of Air 101 crews were able to locate the victims 300 yards downstream. Engine 28 and 29 assisted the victims back up the river to the Rec area where they were evaluated by Oak Valley Ambulance.

8:30 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28, Engine 29, and Battalion 5 responded to the report of a river rescue located west of Honolulu Bar Rec. Crews were able to locate three victims behind a residence on Lancaster Road. The party suffered no injuries and crews assisted with getting the victims off the water and back to their vehicle.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 13

Battalion 2: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

The Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District Board recognized the Dickens family for their support of the recent MST search training.

9:40 a.m. – Engine 26 responded to a report of a cat stuck in a fence at the 7000 block of Dunbar Lane in Riverbank. The crew found a cat with its leg stuck. The crew promptly extricated the cat from the fence.

Battalion 5: Crews completed Target Solutions assignments, apparatus checks and station maintenance and performed company level training in their respective FMA’s.

1:50 p.m. – Engine 28 responded to an injury vehicle accident in the 800 block of Yosemite Avenue in Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene to a two-vehicle accident and treated one patient for a shoulder injury. The patient was transported by Oak Valley ambulance to a local hospital for further care. Crews remained on scene to assist with traffic control.

 

TUESDAY, AUG. 12

HazMat Team members trained on monitors and on the administration of nerve agent antidotes.

MST Strike Team 4201-C remains assigned to the Gifford Fire in Santa Barbara.

Battalion 2: Crews trained on completing engine checks and entries on First Due.

Training was conducted at the station level and online in Vector Solutions.

Battalion 5: Firefighter Rohrabaugh (Engine 27) successfully completed the MST seven-month probationary testing process.

Battalion 5 companies performed daily apparatus and equipment checks, and completed company level training.

Engine 27 responded to the 200 block of Cresta Way for a cat stuck in a tree. Engine 27 arrived to find the cat trapped in tree and unable to move under a broken branch. Engine 27 gained access to the cat with a ladder and assisted with freeing the animal.
