Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 7-3-24

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, June 25 through Monday, July 1. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, JULY 1

Chief Kevin Wise presented several members a certificate of appreciation for their years of service. Captain Autry, Captain French, Engineer Rotan and Engineer Garcia with five years; Captain Hauselmann with 20 years.

Battalion 5: At approximately 9 a.m., Engine 27, E26, Quint 18 and Battalion Chief 3 were dispatched to a vehicle accident at Oakdale and Highway 108 in Riverbank. Upon arrival crews found a vehicle vs. a commercial sign with two immediate patients with one being pinned in. Both patients were transported by ground ambulance to local medical facilities.

 

SUNDAY, JUNE 30

Battalion 5: 11:24 a.m. – Modesto Engine 9, Engine 27, Engine 28, Truck 5, Stanislaus Engine 21, Engine 23, Medic 1, BC2, BC5, and FIU responded to a residential working structure fire in the 9000 block of Partridge Court in Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene of a fire in the backyard of the residence that involved multiple trees, fencing, an outbuilding, and a boat. Crews quickly knocked the fire down and stopped the spread of the fire to the house. FIU is investigating the fire.

11:55 a.m. – Stanislaus Engine 21, Engine 23, Modesto Truck 5, and BC5 responded to the 900 block of Olive Street in Oakdale for a potential structure fire. Engine 21 arrived on scene of a two-story house with nothing showing. Upon further investigation crews found fire extension through an exterior wall of the house following a pressure washer that was on fire next to the wall. The fire was quickly extinguished.

 

SATURDAY, JUNE 29

Battalion 5: 3:07 p.m. – Modesto Grass 3, Engine 9, Grass/Water Tender 27, Brush 28, Stanislaus Brush/Water Tender 23, and BC5 responded to Claribel Road just west of Langworth Road for a vegetation fire. Engine 9 arrived on scene of a 10’ x 100’ roadside grass fire. Engine 9 utilized the assistance of Grass/Water Tender 27, and Brush 28 then cancelled the remaining balance.

Modesto Fire Department utilized Truck 205 to set up the American Flag at the Oakdale All American Bash. Fire Prevention and Fire Suppression staffed the Modesto Fire Booth at the event and Engine 28 participated in the parade.

Modesto Grass 29, BC5, and CalFire Engine 4462 assisted Stanislaus County Fire Prevention at the Fourth of July Fireworks Show at Woodward Reservoir.

 

FRIDAY, JUNE 28

Battalion 2: Engine 26 provided a tour to the Riverbank Sheriff’s Department Junior Police Academy.

Engine 26 and Engine 7 trained on ALS/BLS airways.

Battalion 5: Crews trained on victim pick offs from objects and victim removal of victims in the water in the Knights Ferry area.

 

THURSDAY, JUNE 27

Battalion 2: Companies completed individual online autism training today.

Battalion 5: Crews trained on boat sign offs and training.

Crews worked on apparatus checks and station maintenance.

 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26

Battalion 5: 10:30 a.m. – Engine 28, 29, Engine 231 from Copperopolis Fire, and BC5 responded to a two-vehicle accident at Highway 4 and Milton Road. On scene crews found two vehicles with the highway blocked and a sheared power pole. Six patients were treated for minor injuries. Crews assisted with patient care and traffic control. Once the incident was stabilized the scene was turned over to CHP and all fire units cleared.

 

TUESDAY, JUNE 25

The City of Modesto proudly welcomed Chief Kevin Wise as the Modesto Fire Department Fire Chief at a Swearing-In Ceremony at Fire Station 1. Through service contracts that form MST; Chief Wise serves as the Fire Chief for the communities of Modesto, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District, Turlock, Ceres, Oakdale City, Oakdale Rural Fire Protection District, and Salida.

Battalion 2: Station 26 trained on ALS procedures.

Battalion 5: Water Rescue 28, 29, Engine 27, and BC5 responded to multiple calls for service on the Stanislaus River. A total of three people were removed from the river. One was transported to a local hospital for a lower leg injury.

9:51 p.m. – Brush 29, 24, 23, Grass 27, Water Tender 23, 27 and BC5 responded with CalFire TCU to a vegetation fire in the area of Warnerville and Crabtree Road. The fire was located about two miles off the paved road and took some time to access. The fire was located between abandoned orchards and was 60 acres in size. The fire was contained in a couple hours.
