Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 3-8-23

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Feb. 28 through Monday, March 6. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, MARCH 6

Battalion 5: 6:57 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Engine 29 and BC5 responded to a reported motor vehicle accident with fire. Engine 28 arrived to find a vehicle fully involved in an orchard. Engine 28 extinguished the vehicle and confirmed there were no occupants in the vehicle. CHP is investigating the incident.

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 5

Battalion 2: Stanislaus Engine 21 and 26 performed a mock seven-month test at Fire Station 17.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company-based training, with a focus on laddering commercial buildings, flat roof construction, and commercial ventilation operations.

1:44 p.m. – Engine 28 responded to a public assist for a cat stuck in an engine compartment. The car had been driving for 10-15 minutes when the driver heard the cat and then pulled over. Crews were able to free the cat which had a leg stuck and then remove it from the car.

 

SATURDAY, MARCH 4

Battalion 2: Companies completed Battalion drills.

E24/E26, Q22/E21 got together and trained on wildland signoffs.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.

Units conducted in house training.

MST units trained on commercial fires at Station 17.

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 3

Battalion 2: SCFPD personnel who are participating in the Grant-sponsored Paramedic Certification Program met at Station 26 to discuss the program’s details.

Battalion 5: MST units conducted equipment checks and station maintenance.

Units conducted in house training.

12:59 p.m. – MST units responded to an accident at Highway 108 and Snedigar Road. E26 arrived and reported a two-vehicle accident with minor injuries. The balance of the response was canceled. CHP investigating.

 

THURSDAY, MARCH 2

Battalion 5: Crews completed apparatus checks and conducted company level training with probationary firefighters.

 

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1

Battalion 2: Crews focused on apparatus and station maintenance.

Training was conducted at the station level.

Battalion 5: Modesto E28 and E29 crews conducted boat operator training/familiarization with Water Rescue 29 on the Stanislaus River.

Modesto E27 and E28 conducted probationary firefighter training in Station 28’s FMA.

7:57 p.m. – Modesto Engine 28 and BC5 responded to the 300 block of Sixth Street for an EMS/CPR call.

Battalion 5: Crews conducted company level training.
