KNOCKSVILLE Young people often get a bad rap. Theyre thought of as lazy, entitled and thoughtless; Generation-Yers are assumed to possess traits that run the gamut of undesirability.

Halloween presents a particular opportunity for mayhem to youth with a propensity towards the pesky. Doorbell ditching, jack-o-lantern smashing and implementing tyrannical candy taxes on smaller children are all pranks that are not uncommon on the 31st of October.

As someone who spends 11 months looking forward to the activity, there was nothing worse for me than waking up on November 1st only to see my beautiful carved pumpkin splattered on the pavement. It was a reminder that the world wasnt fair and no amount of losing myself in the previous nights highly caloric haul was going to remedy.

Thats why a video put out by YouTuber Trent Toney is so great.

Inspired by a comic by Doctor Popular, two young men decided to turn the idea of trick-or-treating on its head by bringing treats (and a well-meaning trick) to the front steps of homeowners waiting to distribute goodies to girls and boys dressed up for the occasion. Despite the rainy weather and the heft of their most important prop a door in its frame the two in the video flip the tradition in such a way that left everyone involved smiling.

It's no wonder the YouTube selection has garnered over a million views in under 24 hours.

The snippet serves as a quality reminder that there are plenty of people waiting to do something just to make others smile, even on Halloween.
