Former Oakdale Leader sportswriter Slim Randles – who covered sports in the community nearly a half-century ago – was passing through town last week while en route to his wife’s high school reunion in the Bay Area. They made a stop in Oakdale so Randles could check in with the paper he used to work for, as well as visiting his former home. Now a columnist, he has also written some books.
