Much of the glittery hardware came back from Modesto with the Oakdale High School Academic Decathlon competing team and alternates; the competing team won the county title for an historic 20th time and also took first in the Super Quiz. Leader Photos By Kim Van Meter

Oakdale High School Aca Dec secured an historic 20th win in 22 years on Feb. 4 at the 43rd Annual Stanislaus County Academic Decathlon.

In addition to being named the overall winner, the competing team captured the title of Super Quiz winner as well. Individual medals were scooped up by both competing team members, as well as team alternates.

Individual results for the Saturday competition are as follows.

 

Essay top scores were: Joseph Yakligian, Honors Fifth; Carter Franca, Scholastic Gold; Johanna Fabian, Varsity Gold, Julia Chavez, Varsity Fourth and Jackson Hammond, Varsity Fifth. Alternates: Iyska Rangel, Bronze; Landon Arnold, Fifth and Alexia Jeevan, Fifth.

 

Category of Speech top scores were: Micah Kakuna, Honors Silver; Carter Franca, Scholastic Silver; Mateo Zepeda, Scholastic Bronze; Border Rath, Scholastic Bronze; Johanna Fabian, Varsity Gold; Julia Chavez, Varsity Silver and Jackson Hammond, Varsity Bronze.

 

In the Interview Category top scores were: Bleu Ancheta, Honors Bronze and Jackson Hammond, Varsity Fourth.

The competing team will now prepare for the in-person State Competition to be hosted in late March in Santa Clara.
