Variety Of Summer Programs Coming To Oakdale Library

Preschool Story Time and Wiggle Worms will continue through June and July at the Oakdale Library, as a busy summer schedule gets underway.

Preschool Story Time is every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Books, flannelboard stories, fingerplay, and music for preschoolers, ages 3-6, and caregivers. (30 mins.)

Wiggle Worms Story Time is now twice each Wednesday, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Enjoy stories, music, dancing, rhythm activities, and fingerplay at this special program perfect for ages up to 3 and their caregivers. (25-30 mins.)

The Summer Reading Program continues all though June and July. Come by the library and join in the fun activities, prize drawings, entertaining programs, and read what you enjoy as the library celebrates “Reading by Design!” as its theme this year. There are prizes for every age level.

There will be Lego Days every Friday in June. Kids can build and “design” their own creative masterpieces from a huge collection of LEGO and DUPLO blocks and then display these treasures in the Library. Come by for building fun at 3 p.m.

Bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. Attendees will be “rockin’ out” to some favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps a Mexican Hat Dance.

Children’s Craft will be on Thursday, June 8, at 3:30 p.m., when participants will be working on “Crowns & Castles.” Children will decorate a foam crown and make their own unique castle using paper tubes. This craft is guaranteed to spark creativity and imaginative play.

The library’s Computer Classes will continue on Tuesdays, June 13, June 20, and June 27. Classes will be focused on Computer Basics and Internet Basics. All classes begin at 10:30 a.m. Please call for info and be sure to reserve your space. Each session is limited to four people. Call 209-847-4204.

Don’t miss your chance to use the library’s fun and creative Button Maker for the Teen/Adult Craft on Wednesday, June 14 at 3:30 p.m. Participants can learn how to use the button maker to create unique and personal pins of photos, designs, or almost anything. Express yourself in your own style.

Join in on Thursday, June 15 at noon for a wonderful Summer Reading Presentation of the Traveling Lantern Theatre Company. They will present a fun and entertaining interactive program for the whole family and the performance is free.

The next Thursday, June 22 at 3:30 p.m. join in to design your own fun. Following on the Summer Reading Theme, you will be able to build a bridge or catapult. Work with paints or puzzles. Create some rhythm and try some indoor archery. There will be lots of ideas and materials to design some summer fun with your own imagination.

The Library Book Club will be reading “All the Light We Cannot See” and then meeting to discuss and share on Tuesday, June 27, at 11:30 a.m. You can sign out a copy at the Library and join in. New members are always welcome.

Teen Book Club, just for teens to read, think, discuss, and share. Join in at 3 p.m., Thursday, June 29. You can pick up a copy of the current selection, “Nation,” at the Oakdale Library now. Then, come and add your ideas and voice to the discussion, and enjoy a snack too.

 

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of many of the library’s programs and prizes. They will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. Forms to join and more information are available at the Oakdale Library.
