UNITY RALLY
RALLY OAK

Speaker Alejandro Carrillo, far right, joined community members and leaders to denounce racism at a rally aimed at unity Monday evening, Aug. 21 at the Community Center Plaza. The Oakdale Police Department was a solid presence at the rally as a precaution against any violence but the event went smoothly and without interruption. Oakdale City Mayor Pat Paul placed a resolution condemning racism, bullying, bigotry and hate within the community. The rally was in response to recent tragic events in Charlottesville, Virginia where a man with an Oakdale post office box address was associated with one of the white nationalist demonstrations. Other speakers within the community echoed the rally’s sentiment, that hate will not be tolerated in any fashion.
