Members of the Oakdale Children’s Play Park Committee have a special event set for Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Join them at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the park, when they will unearth the play park’s 22-year old time capsule.

The Oakdale Children’s Play Park, on the northeast corner of A Street and Second Avenue, was originally constructed in October 1993. This project was funded by donations from local businesses and community members and constructed by hundreds of volunteers. During the construction of the play park, a time capsule was placed under the play equipment.

The play park is scheduled to be renovated with the help of community volunteers over five days in October, the work slated for Oct. 14 through 18, and the time capsule needs to be opened.

All are welcome to join in the ceremony at 9:30 a.m. today and discover what the kids of 1993 placed in the time capsule over two decades ago.
