A 16-year-old girl sustained major injuries Monday evening, Nov. 9 when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing near the intersection of F Street and Bryan Avenue. No fault has been determined, though the 20-year-old male westbound driver from Oakdale was not found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the injured teen was wearing dark clothing and it is unclear whether the teen was in the crosswalk or crossing diagonally. The teen was transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment of head injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

This is the second accident at or near the crosswalk adjacent to Gillman’s Frosties that has resulted in major injuries to a teen.

In April, an eastbound OID truck struck a 15-year-old Oakdale High student as he crossed F Street in a marked crosswalk at Bryan Avenue after school. The impact threw the teen 30 to 45 feet, fracturing his pelvis and causing a head injury.
