Coordinator for the local effort of Operation Christmas Child, Liz Greenlee, smiles after counting up the packed shoeboxes that will help make the holidays brighter for youngsters around the globe. The total collection in the Oakdale area this year through the Samaritan’s Purse program was 743, up from 686 last year. About 15 volunteers were involved in the collection and packing of the boxes for shipping out to Calvary Chapel in Modesto, then on to Corona to await further distribution.
