It’s almost here, but there’s still time to get tickets for one of the area’s most anticipated musical events; the Sierra View Music Festival. The gathering is set for this Saturday, Sept. 14.

Headliner for the one-day country themed show this year is Wynonna, formerly of The Judds (performing with her mother Naomi), who then branched out as a solo performer and now tours with The Big Noise.

Organizer Jim Brunk said the festival will be just one day this year, and the music will be non-stop, providing plenty of enjoyment for fans. Proceeds will benefit the Heidi Brunk Music Scholarship Fund.

Each year, the festival raises money to provide scholarships to students pursuing a career in music and it is dedicated to the memory of the late Heidi Brunk.

She passed away following a tragic accident in 2008.

“Her musical enjoyment and passion for teaching lives on in the Heidi Brunk Foundation,” said husband Jim.

Created to award students with music scholarships, the Heidi Brunk Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) organization that raises charitable funds through donations and ticket sales from the Sierra View Music Fest.

Along with headliner Wynonna and The Big Noise, the day will feature some of country music’s brightest new stars, including Rachele Lynae and Joel Crouse, just off tour with Taylor Swift.

The festival is hosted at JH Ranch in Oakdale with the gates open at 2 p.m. Music begins at 2:30 p.m. and runs through 11 p.m., with Wynonna due to perform at 9 p.m.

Local favorite Remedy is another band that is expected to take the stage during the festival.

In its first year in 2009, Brunk said the Sierra View Music Fest raised thousands for the Foundation. Students from Oakdale, Ripon, Escalon and Modesto have received scholarships over the years.

“For 2013 we have set a goal of raising $25,000 for the Scholarship fund,” Brunk said. “Join us for good times, great music and an effort to give deserving students an Educational Music Scholarship.”

Pre-sale ticket prices are $35; they will be $45 on the day of the event. VIP tickets are priced at $125 and include food, table seating, appetizers, and limited beverages. For tickets or more information call 209-247-6069 or visit www.sierraviewmusicfest.com.
