An overcast morning proved to serve as perfect running weather for over 350 runners and walkers on Saturday, March 10 as they joined in for the ninth annual SOS (Support Oakdale Schools) Fun Run. The event was hosted at Cloverland Elementary School, attracting city officials, school district employees, as well as community members showing up to cheer on the participants.

It’s estimated that over $10,000 was raised for the Oakdale Educational Foundation at the annual event. Funds are used to help finance special programs within Oakdale schools and meet a variety of classroom needs.

Top overall finishers for the one-mile distance were: Male, Cesar Garcia, 6:27 and Female, Karina Verduzco, 7:31.

Other age group top three finishers for the one-mile included:

Eight and under male: First place, Beau Hammer; Second place, Mateo Anzaldo; Third place, Roman Moreno. Eight and under female: First place, Amelia Spaulding; Second place, Olivia Ellis; Third place, Kendra Notaro.

Nine- to 12-year-old male: First place, Mason Oliveira; Second place Jackson Oliveira; Third place, Abner Gonzalez. Nine- to 12-year-old female: First place, Karina Verduzco; Second place, Lyndee Cox; Third place, Camyron Costello.

13- to 15-year-old male: First place, Omar Garcia; Second place, Brandon Martinez; Third place, Juan Marquez. 13- to 15-year-old female: First place, Victoria Blanc; Second place, Lorin Odom; Third place, Hannah Gorman.
