Teams are still being sought for the upcoming Oakdale-Escalon-Riverbank-Waterford Relay For Life. The event will be hosted May 5 and 6 at the Oakdale High School soccer fields, bringing together teams from the communities for one centralized 24-hour American Cancer Society fundraising event. Teams are gearing up for with fundraisers and special activities; look for information about those activities in this regularly scheduled ‘Relay Corner’ in preparation for the main event.

 

See’s Candy Fundraiser

Members of the Relay For Life committee and teams are selling See’s Candies as a spring fundraiser; with specialty items designed for Easter gift giving. Orders are being taken now for the candies, which will be delivered in time for Easter. Contact any team or committee member if you would like to order the boxed chocolates, lollypops, Easter candy eggs or gift certificates. Orders are due by Thursday, March 15.

 

Paint Night

Join in for an evening of fun and painting on Tuesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. at the Escalon Library, 1540 Second St., Escalon. The special Paint Night cost is $35 per person; appetizers and light refreshments will be served and participants will paint a piece to take home with them, with all supplies provided. Team Meeting

The next meeting for Team Captains is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21 at the Oak Valley Medical Plaza, 1425 H St., Oakdale. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour; the Event Leadership Team, ELT, provides much needed information about the Relay For Life at these sessions and anyone interested in learning more is welcome to attend. There is still time to form a team; come to the March 21 meeting and find out what Relay is all about. Help to ‘Finish the Fight’ against cancer and get involved in the fundraising and educational activities surrounding the 24-hour event. Teams will also gather in their respective communities – Oakdale, Riverbank, Escalon and Waterford – on Saturday, April 21 to ‘Paint The Town Purple’ by tying purple ribbons around trees, sign posts and more to help advertise the Relay.

 

Survivor Brunch

Save the date for the Oakdale-Escalon-Riverbank-Waterford Relay For Life Survivor Brunch. The event is scheduled for Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. at the Oakdale Fire Department, 325 E.
