Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder and Registrar of Voters Lee Lundrigan announced the Nov. 8, 2016 Presidential General Election canvass of the vote was completed Monday, Dec. 5. Stanislaus County certified its election results which can be found posted on the election website, www.stanvote.com

California law required certification of this election to take place on or before Dec. 8, which is 30 days following this Election Day. This was a presidential general election and included all of Stanislaus County voters.

Over 875 volunteer election officers worked to support this Presidential Primary Election which included 26 adopt-a-poll volunteer organizations, 161 student poll workers and 15 field inspectors.

The certification of the vote includes an official summary of the results, including a hand tally of votes conducted by Stanislaus County for qualified write in candidates for United States President. In those races all results from each of the counties involved must be viewed and combined to establish total votes received for qualified write-in candidates.

Stanislaus County had 241,196 registered voters eligible to cast their ballot in this election, of which 176,992 voted. A total of 130,468 ballots were cast by mail in Stanislaus County compared with 46,524 Stanislaus voters going to the polls on Election Day.

“Voter turnout was 73.38 percent in this election.” Lundrigan noted in a statement issued by her office on Monday. “This is the largest percentage of ballots cast and most voters casting ballots in Stanislaus County history.”
