The League of Women Voters will be hosting a Candidate Forum on Oct. 11 for the Oakdale Irrigation District races, which feature contests for two posts.

In OID District 2, which includes portions of Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties, incumbent Herman Doornenbal Jr., a farmer, is being challenged by Don J. Taro, a ranch owner.

District 5 will have a race pitting farmer Brad DeBoer against grower Grover Francis. The seat was previously held by Gary Osmundson, but he vacated the post earlier this year when he moved out of the district. The seat covers a portion of Oakdale.

In District 3, farmer/legislative analyst Tom Orvis is running unopposed.

The Candidate Forum is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Oakdale City Council Chambers on North Second Avenue and is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Local residents are encouraged to come to meet the candidates, ask questions and learn more about the OID candidates and their goals.

The free event is presented by the League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County.
