Knights Ferry Rancheria is a major focus in a pair of books, written by local resident Andrew Rico, with a gathering at the Oakdale Museum scheduled for Saturday, March 24 to introduce the books to the community.

“My great-great grandfather and his cousin were the first grantees of it,” Rico said of the land that makes up the Rancheria.

The historical books cover the family’s adventure in this area, with the first book covering the years roughly up to 1900 and the second book featuring the generations that have come since.

Rico said the Open House for his book introduction is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the museum, at 212 W. F St., Oakdale.

His great-great grandfather, he noted, was a physician in the Monterey area but used the land in Knights Ferry for cattle.

Author Rico worked for many years as a CPA in Oakdale and wrote the books in his retirement.

All are welcome to attend the open house.
