Modestos Music In Plaza Kicks Off Friday, May 4

This year Music in the Plaza kicks off in conjunction with May the Fourth-Star Wars Day which will take over the 10th Street Plaza in downtown Modesto.

The Fred C Beyer High School Band will be performing songs from Star Wars between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Lodge Pole Pickers are going to go full Jedi performing 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Brian Friend aka Laser Voodoo will do a laser and light show to make things extra special.

Members of the local Star Wars groups the 501st, Rebel Legion, Saber Guild, Astromech Droid Builders, Mandalorian Mercs along with Central Valley Costumers and the NorCal Cosies will be dressed up as your favorite Star Wars Characters.

Also featured will be a Life Size Tie-Fighter, droids and characters from all your favorite Star Wars movies. Organizers are encouraging everyone to dress up or at least bring their lightsaber for an epic battle when the sun goes down.

Fuzio and Ralston’s Goat will have special menus and Star Wars themed drinks.

The First Friday Street Faire will move down a block and be set up between I and J streets in Modesto from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Every Friday from May 4 to Sept 28 enjoy great music from some of the area’s best bands curated by Beat Happy! Music and Modesto Area Music Association.

May 11 will feature Big Earl’s Poorhouse Millionaires; May 18, Texas Funk; May 25, A La Lune.
