MMA Hosts Make-A-Wish
make a wish

No child should have to go through chemotherapy. But the sad reality is cancer does not care how old you are. For 4-year-old Oakdale resident, Jasslynn Diaz, the fight is very real. Diaz has optical cancer and is currently involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation trying to get her wish granted.

The youngster’s story touched many locals and caught the attention of Oakdale Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Academy. The home of Last Stand Fight Team will be hosting an eight-hour workout fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 27 beginning at 9 a.m. as part of the Make-A-Wish effort. Each hour will be a different class that includes karate, kick boxing, judo, women’s self-defense, Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling and more.

The goal for Diaz to have her wish granted is $7,500. Her wish will be unveiled at the Oakdale MMA Academy on Feb. 27, with donations being accepted through the local academy. If the goal is exceeded, the remainder of the funds raised will go toward the next child on the waiting list for a wish.
