If you received a new tech device recently, or just need a bit of help with set-up or instruction using the Library’s great apps for e-books, movies, music, audio books, and more, you’ll want to sign up for our Tech Connect program on Thursdays, Jan. 4 and Jan. 11. This will be one-on-one instruction, with help downloading and using our free apps. Call the Oakdale Library at 209-847-4204 to set your time and get connected to a world of e-resources all available with your library card.

Our Wee Move And Play program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Mondays, Jan. 8 and Jan. 22. Parents can help their children learn social skills and have fun at the same time. Join us at 11 a.m. both days.

Teen Book Club is back. Come talk about your favorite books and we’ll be making some awesome cell phone speakers at the same time. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 3 p.m., is the date and time.

It’s cold, it’s wet, it’s snowy white slime. And we’ll be making this stuff for our Children’s Craft on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 3:30 p.m. Add some faux snow to the usual slime recipe and enjoy a “unique texture” that really looks like “snow.”

We will have three Lego Days this month.  Kids can create their own masterpieces using our fabulous Lego collection and we will display these great works in the Library. The building fun begins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Jan. 4, 18, and 25.

Don’t miss our Evening Pajama Story Time starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18. There will be new and classic picture books, flannel board and puppet stories, fingerplays, music, and dancing for little ones and family. Children are invited to come dressed in their pajamas and bring a favorite stuffed animal to join in the fun. (30 minutes)

Calling all “Little Scientists!” Let’s get excited about science in this special program designed for children from kindergarten and up. We will listen to a book and then explore science with fun and interesting hands-on activities. The “science lab” will be open Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 3:30 p.m. Please sign up in advance at our desk or by calling 209-847-4204 because some materials may be limited.

Our regular Library Book Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23. This month our members will be sharing their personal favorite books. New members are always welcome to join in the discussion.

Starting on Jan. 29, you can bring smiles to seniors. Children have the ability to lift all our spirits. Help bring happiness to the hearts of local seniors by making a Valentine’s Day card with a warm message to share. All the art materials necessary to create will be available in the Children’s Library and, after Feb. 12, the cards and sentiments will be delivered to local senior facilities in Oakdale.

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of so many of our programs and prizes. They constantly promote and encourage the great gift of literacy at all levels for everyone. The Friends will hold their monthly meeting on Jan. 22 at 1:30 p.m. Forms to join and info are available at the Oakdale Library, or call 209-847-4204.
