Library Features Variety Of April Programs

Preschool Story Time and Wiggle Worms will be off-session in April. They will resume in May.

The popular “In-N-Out Burger Cover to Cover Reading Program” for ages 4 to 12, will end on April 13. There is still time to fill out a reading log and get a certificate for a free delicious hamburger. It only takes five books to start eating.

Children will enjoy the special “Fairy Garden Craft.” Use moss, rocks, and a cute little miniature gnome or gummy bear, along with a bit of creativity to complete a unique enchanted fairy garden. The fun begins Wednesday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m.

There will be two Lego Days this month on Thursday, April 11 and April 25, at 3 p.m. Kids can create their own masterpieces using the library’s Lego collection and then have the works displayed in the Library.

Join in on Wednesday, April 17 at 10:30 a.m., for a special “Litterbug” Story Time geared for Preschoolers. Stanislaus County Department of Environmental Resources will provide a lively program about litter, recycling, and storm water. This fun, interactive program will empower children in learning how they can be an important part in keeping the earth green and oceans clean. There will also be a simple recycling craft following this presentation, “Musical Shaker Eggs” or “Ribbon Streamer Rings.”

Thursday, April 18, starting at 3 p.m., don’t miss the Dia! Celebration Day of the Child, Day of the Book. There will be a great bi-lingual Story Time, crafts, and a free book give-away. Plan to have the whole family attend this multicultural educational event.

Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun is scheduled on Monday, April 22 at 11 a.m. They’ll be “rockin’ out” to some favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps a Mexican Hat Dance.

Computer Basics Classes For Adults will be offered on Tuesdays, April 23 and April 30, at 10:30 a.m. Learn at your pace in this small personal setting. Call the Library to reserve your spot. Each session is limited to four people. Call 209-847-4204.

Children, ages 5 to 8, will want to join in the ongoing “Book Worms Kids Book Club”. On Wednesday, April 24, at 3 p.m., the library will feature its special book club for kids, where children will listen to a story, discuss and share, and then do a fun related craft or activity. No need to check out the book ahead of time, just come in and enjoy book fun especially for this age level. Painting will be part of this good time.

On Tuesday, April 23, at 11:30 a.m., the library will host its ongoing Oakdale Library Book Club for adults. Join in to meet, mingle, and chat with other literature lovers. Read and discover new books, genres, and authors. This month’s selection will be “Mrs. Lincoln’s Dressmaker” by J. Chiaverini. Stop by the Library to sign out a copy. Then join in for a great discussion. New members are always welcome.

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of many of the library’s programs and prizes. They will hold their monthly meeting on April 22, at 1:30 p.m. Forms to join and info are available at the Oakdale Library.
